I've searched the National Guard Jobs website, and can't find 68C's openings anywhere. What's the story on LPN's in the Guard?

SPC Bobby Coble You may have to check w/ the USAR. They have more support units than the Guard.

Actually, I've even searched Goarmy.com and can't find 68C's listed there either. Is it possible that the Army reversed the decision to make the LPN a stand alone MOS and put it back as an ASI under 68W?

Guard is slot based by mtoe. You have to see if your state has a Med unit with open slots. I know my state does not have a hospital.

If your searching has yielded no information, then may I recommend you stop by the nearest Recruiter office and speak with them. Perhaps their search engines can dig deeper.

To piggy back off of what MSG Private RallyPoint Member said when you speak to a recruiter he/she can research open slots for you. I did that finding a unit for 11B :)

I am currently in phase 2 of the 68C peogram, and we don't have anyone in the National Guard in my class, just reservists and active duty soldiers.

Have you considered contacting the NGB Surgeon's office? I can help you make contact. Recruiters (having been one) aren't there for you. Sucked up the recruiter gig for 6 months then went T-10 AGR (Guard Bureau)

Better bet would be either VA or other Federal jobs. National guard doesn't have too many full time jobs. Look on USAjobs.

Its a new mos, I would imagine technician positions would be open soon. Call a recruiter and inquire about the fulltime vacancies. See what they have to say.

You can only be a 68C in the USAR or Active Duty.

Within the National Guard 68C positions are 1 per state with that position being Senior Practical Nurse which is now an E-7 Position, (previously E-8 position for many years). The Army reserves have a great deal more 68C positions at several different ranks than does the National Guard (to my knowledge).

I’ve been out of the service since 91. I got my LPN in 1997 and thought about going into the Guard or reserves in Erie, Pa. decided not too and moved back to Ky. Got my Liscense transferred to Kentucky; but I got hurt and never worked again as a nurse. I thought they did away with LPN’s in the service?
