SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1002172

I am planning to go back Active Duty and was told I need a DLAB score of 107. I have proof on old 2-1 of my 119 score. Can I be required to take it again, or is my score still valid? Oh, yes, 32 years later, I still speak, read and write Russian, which I learned in 1984 at DLIFLC. I took the DLAB in March 1983 and got a 119. I enlisted for Russian and graduated DLI in 1984. Is my 119 still a good sccore? 2015-09-29T12:00:58-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 1002172

I am planning to go back Active Duty and was told I need a DLAB score of 107. Difference is the ASVAB remains valid once you enlist.
Are you attempting to go to DLI and learn another language? The scoring system has changed multiple times since then. But there also used to be a provision that once you learned a language at DLI they didn't look at your DLAB anymore.

I did Russian in '86 and then Czech at FSI in 2004-5. But if you are of use they will take you. They should have records going back that far. Then, I would take the RU DLPT to show demonstrated proficiency in the language, if that option is available to you. That, with your old record of the 119 (which I believe is the equivalent of a 109, but I'm not entirely sure) should get you in, or at least a strong case for a waiver. The recruiter can also call HRC Language Branch and see what they say about the DLAB issue. If your MOS is language-dependent, then you will need to retake the DLPT annually.
