I think he has done more to hurt race relations than help anything. He weighs in before facts come out and seriously undermines the situation often without regard to what he is saying until the damage is already done.

His election and ability to take the high road on a lot of personal attacks on his wife and family have been a great example.

Representation matters. I will never forget the look of solemn pride in my grandmother's eyes when he was elected. For a black woman who was born in the 1930s and raised children in the 60s, the election of a person who resembles you must have been mind blowing.
