When you originally moved, your allowance was based on your single status. When you reenlisted, you were eligible to have your family command sponsored. As long as you are in an overseas assignment that is accompanied, you can get money to move them. Talk to your transportation office. They can help you. In order to change your orders to accompanied you can do what is called a tour curtailment. It is like getting a new set of orders to your current station. The only downside is that, say you are on 2 year orders. Accompanied orders are 3 years. If you do a tour curtailment you receive orders for another 3 years for a total of 5 years. This is most economical for the service. The order that ordered you to your current PDS was an unaccompanied tour and you didn't have dependents. An order cannot be modified to change an entitlement (JTR 2205). The entitlement to ship personal property is the military members, not the dependents.

You stated, you used your HHG. Did you use unaccompanied baggage or household goods entitlement? Or both when you PCS'd? What was your rank on the effective date of your orders (the day you signed into your duty station)? How much weight did you ship? Were you authorized full weight allowance or was your weight restricted (dorm room or off base) [your weight cannot be increased IAW JTR 5202-E3a(3)]. How long is your tour and when did you arrive? You said you reenlisted, are you performing an IPCOT (JTR 5150-B)?

I am asking these questions as every situation is different. Even though you aren't authorized to ship additional HHG because you acquired dependents after your effective order date, you may have HHG entitlement remaining; therefore, you may be authorized to perform another move subject to excess cost (JTR 5198 and JTR 5176-B).

A Home of Record (HOR) shipment was mentioned in another post. This is not a separate entitlement. If you did not use your initial entitlement from your HOR or if you only shipped partial weight to your first PDS, you can use a combination of orders to perform a subsequent move from a previous PDS (HOR is a previous PDS) (JTR 5172-D). The shipment is performed under your current order (but you must provide all previous orders); however, ALL shipments under your current order cannot exceed your current JTR weight allowance and the shipment from the previous PDS cannot exceed the weight you were authorized plus any shipments made to that PDS. (Example: first PDS, authorized to ship 5,000 pounds. Shipped 700 pounds. Remaining weight 4,300 pounds. Current assignment, authorized to ship 5,000 pounds. Shipped 1,000 pounds but would like to ship property from a previous PDS. 4,000 pounds remain on current entitlement and 4,300 pounds remain on First PDS; a shipment of 4,000 can be performed from First PDS subject to excess cost.)

Every Service has specific guidance; therefore, consult your Service for further information.
