Instead, we may pay you back only to the date we received your claim for additional disability for the dependent or, in some cases, up to a year before before this date. It's a way congress came up with screwing us out of money, and not the VA's fault. They can't go back to 85 unless you submitted the claim in 85?
Call VA at [login to see] and you should get same answer. You can also go to VA.Gov, click on Contact Us Tab in upper right, go down to ask a question and follow the prompts to get an answer using IRIS, the va portal for Q&A.
Who is the "VA Rep" you mention? It helps to understand this because all "VA Reps" are not always VA employees. Some are county people (usually good) some are state people (also good) and some are reps from non-profit Veterans Service Organizations like DAV, VFW, PVA, Amer.Legion, WWA, etc etc. Sgt Robert Case Thu, 09 May 2019 14:48:05 -0400 2019-05-09T14:48:05-04:00 Response by SPC Pat Laughon made May 9 at 2019 9:18 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-receive-60-comp-from-va-and-get-an-additional-amt-for-my-disabled-son-who-do-i-contact-regarding-this-amount?n=4621230&urlhash=4621230

Your son is eligible as helpless child if disabled on 18th birthday. Contact your local DAV chapter ask for a State or a National representative they will file the paperwork for you. You will need to sign a power of attorney to this person but it's only good for this issue do no worries. It sometimes takes a while for your process to go through but it's the easiest way!
