Bring your heart rate up to 75% of maximum rate for your age for at least one hour per day six days a week. Stay away from all junk food and keep your meals small and frequent; never eat large meals.

Weigh yourself at the same time every day (When getting up, before breakfast, or just before going to bed - whatever you choose, be consistent.

Set two goal weights 5 lbs. apart; when you are in the lower end of the range you can relax your diet a bit, but when you are at the upper end of the range carefully watch everything you eat. As you lose weight and are consistently at the lower end of the range, lower the set points accordingly.

Aerobic exercise builds the ability of your muscles to burn fat directly, and they will do so even when you are at rest.

You will notice that after a certain point you will no longer get sore after exercise; this is because you have moved out of the sugar-burning cycle which produces lactic acid in your muscles. For me that was 15 miles/hike. Any amount over that made no difference and I stopped getting sore altogether; my muscles had converted to fat burning and no longer produced lactic acid.

Whatever exercise (brisk walking or running) that brings your heart rate up to 75% of maximum for your age will be sufficient; when brisk walking will no longer bring your heart rate up you will have to start jogging. Treadmills and elliptical training machines also work well but cost more.

Whatever you do, don't give up, don't break the routine.

This is what worked for me.

http://www.active.com/fitness/calculators/heartrate

A High Protein, MINIMAL Carbohydrate diet (Ketosis) can result in RAPID weight loss in the 3~lb a week (up to 1lb a day) range for several weeks. It starts with several days of water weight & and bodily waste loss, followed by fat burning. If you stick to the diet, you'll see 20-30lbs drop in the first 30 days.

See Atkins Diet as an example.

ALWAYS consult a medical profession when you are looking to lose that much weight, especially that quickly though.

Edit:wordResponse by Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS made Dec 24 at 2015 7:58 PM2015-12-24T19:58:54-05:002015-12-24T19:58:54-05:00SFC Pete Kain1196327

60 to 75 lbs, seriously? There is a simple way of doing this. You just need to burn more calories a day then you intake. You will lose weight everyday. It really doesn't matter what you do to limit your calories but you have to burn off what you eat. It is going to suck. I also recommend taking up distance running. It is great to burn off those pounds. Just don't try some crazy gimmick. It is going to take a lot of sweat equity on this.Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 25 at 2015 12:05 PM2015-12-25T12:05:42-05:002015-12-25T12:05:42-05:00Capt Daniel Goodman1197205

My wife and I saw your question and thought we might possibly have me suggest a still relatively little-known possibility that you might well not have heard of at all. On TV here we saw an ad by http://www.portioncontroller.com, [login to see] , about an external no surgical wearable lap band worn in conjunction with a modified Atkins diet. By using it under clinical supervision I was able to go from 320 to about 271-275 lbs in about 6 months; I had originally been 342 lbs and have used it clinging to it as if it were a lifeline if you will for the past year to year and a half. Whether it might be suitable for your circumstances or not of course you'd need to look into; however, it was covered by our civilian insurances for me, and we gather is apparently based on serious published science, I did look through the papers. It consists of a dual belt assembly worn snugly over the lower abdomen pressing on the stretch receptor of the stomach above the navel worn other than when sleeping or in a pool or shower and is actually quite physically comfortable in fact. It needs to be professionally fitted and is a very clinically real device that at least till now has we gather gotten little word of mouth out of our area though we just felt on reading your question that it might potentially be of relevance for your circumstances as well as for others seeking to lose weight under similar time constraints. In any event we hope you find the info useful potentially, and wish you and all here of course a happy holiday and new year by all means of course.
