i need advice on how i go about getting a motorized scooter from the VA.

I have Parkinson's disease and it has been increasingly harder to get around, especially when I go shopping and so forth. I am looking for advice as to how I go about getting a motorized scooter from the VA or elsewhere.

Talk to your VA MD, they will need to set you up with an appointment with your physical therapy department. PT will determine if you need one, from there what model, size and the like. the unit normally is custom made for you so it takes about 6 weeks for the company from the time they get the order to it getting delivered to the VA, the devices to be put together, another appointment may be needed for final fitment. That's from the folks in The VA I work at. Your VA may differ slightly.

SrA Shannon Tatkenhorst If you are VA disabled, contact the VA Prosthetics clinic at your nearest VA Medical Center. I saw a post online by the Wilmington, DE VAMC discussing scooters for veterans. I hope this helps.

SrA Shannon Tatkenhorst, every request and health issue you have must be shared with your VA doctor because he is the one that makes the referrals which provides the justification.
