Also, had you also looked at USAF Prime Beef (their equivalent under civil engrg), or Army or USMC combat engineers as well? Not that it matters, of course, as I'd said, I'd merely wondered, many thanks.... Bottom line, your test scores, experience, aptitude, etc. AND the needs of the Navy need to be matched up. Back in my day, there were Seabee designated recruits going through Boot Camp. Same went for aviation. On the college side, just be aware that any engineering "technology" program does not qualify for obtaining a professional engineer license later on. Good luck son..... CAPT Kevin B. That was in '96 but I doubt recruiting has changed much since then. You have to make sure the recruiter does all the paperwork and don't stand for the old "You can sign up when you get to boot camp" BS. The Seabees have had a big drawdown over the past couple of years so it may not be the easiest area to get into. Again, make sure the recruiter guarantees a place at one of the Seabee 'A' schools. The Engineering Aid rating requires some math qualifications but I think the rest require generally decent ASVAB scores. Theyll give you a wishlist of like 5 MOSs. If you dont get a seabee one, say you're not signing it. Then everyone will look at you like a jerk, you suck it up, and stick with your decision not to enlist under a different MOS. Lucky for you theres 6 seabee MOSs, but choose those carefully too.

BUs and SWs we are the premadonnas: building schools in other countries and building fake houses during homeport, and get off work early during homeport. UTs and CEs are bravo types and do camp maintenance (fixing preexisting structures), and sometimes stuck in that rhythm. CMs and EOs are alfa types and work in a garage for long freaking hours, occasionally doing charlie jobs. Also, they are the most military of the 3 lol. All 3 groups though do combat training the same. Alfa guys normally dont go to foreign countries "det life", which is why I personally would suggest go charlie or bravo MOSs.
