You'll need a passport or passport card. And the reason isn't that the Canucks require it, the reason is that you'll need it to get back into Alaska. Or, you can avoid all that by taking the ferry from Seattle. Personal experience I PCSd to Korea didnt even pull out my passport at all the whole time I was there, all I showed was my orders with my Military ID even when leaving coming back into customs so it should be the same driving through Canada, but I'd also get a passport card if I were you.
