I'm not an Infantryman and I understand that under the current rules I cannot earn an EIB. Can I still put it on my ERB?

I did EIB a few years ago and they gave me a certificate and everything. I don't wear it an I don't want to. Just curious if I can get it put on my ERB for promotion points, etc.

You can't put it on because you aren't eligible to be awarded the EIB. You can put the certificate of training in your OMPF, but nothing on your ERB since it's not a school.

According to the the regulation you were not eligible unless your had CMF 11. I see you are a 19K. Which unit did you test with?

hey man im former infantry and if i were you id wear it but as far as promotion points , I believe HRC people should square you away with points and ERB.

Since you are not 11 or 18 series, the badge cannot be added under the awards section of your ERB and you cannot wear it as a badge. AR 600-8-22 governs this provision. However, it is still considered military training. You can add it under the "course" section of your ERB and receive promotion points for military education. AR 600-8-104 para 5-16 is the supporting regulation/paragraph. It can also be placed in your OMPF (Paragraph 1-6)

Yes you can but first contact who runs EIB at FT Benning I believe it was MSG Smiley to see if you in the computer. This what I was told I would ask him aswell.

No, the only awards you can earn outside the Infantry EIB or CIB, are the CAB and the EMB/CMB. The USAIS Pamphlet 350-6 says; The target audience for this pamphlet is:
• Infantry Soldiers currently serving in Career Management Field 11.
• Special Forces Soldiers in occupational specialties 18A, 18B, 18C, 18E, 18F, and
18Z.
• Infantry Soldiers and Commissioned Infantry Officers in the U.S. Army, U.S. Army
Reserve (USAR), and Army National Guard (ARNG).
Note: This training publication can be used for other Military Occupational Specialties as a guide
for their warrior task training events; however training, testing, and awarding of the Expert
Infantryman Badge is specifically for Infantry and Special Forces personnel only. This standard
may not be waived.

I was in the infantry in the Marines and we don't get a badge for being in the infantry in the Corps. I didn't realize they did issued a badge for that in the Army.

You can't put it on there because according to the regulations, you shouldn't have even been allowed to participate in testing, much less be awarded a badge or certificate. AR 600-8-22 says only 11 and 18 series soldiers are permitted to go out for EIB.
That being said, I know someone who got it on his ERB even though he wasn't an Infantryman. But that's because his S1 clerk was clueless about the regulation as well.

You may list the training on your OMPF, but I believe that you need to hold an 11 series MOS to be awarded the EIB. Reference AR 600-8-22 for yourself. This should bring you up to speed and also share with your fellow soldiers.

If you earned an EIB and won't wear it, you are suspect sarge! I earned a CIB in Viet-Nam and I still respect those who have an EIB. All I had to do for a CIB was let commies shot at me. Those who ern an EIB have to earn it!!

I have done EIB 3 times, and I am a 19D. the only thing you will get out of it is a good NCOER bullet, and an AAM/ARCOM if you are lucky if you are not 11 Series. No BDE commander is going to sign the order authorizing EIB for non 11 series.

When I left the Army in 1962 as a SGT I had received the EIB as an E-4. I then went back in as an E-2 at age 24 but was challenged several times because I chose to wear it. I saw several get an ARCOM in formation and said to myself "I gotta get one of those". Then came language school and Viet Nam. Got myself a CIB and was in tall cotton. Awards to me were a goal. I suppose my hillbilly ways and respect for all the WWII older guys I grew up around impressed me to the max. I am of the opinion that awards are like Gold Stars in elementary school. Make them happen.
