They come once you’re done with AIT and get your orders for where you are going. You will receive your rank pay with dependents. So, it’ll be more depending on where you’re going to be stationed.

Your Basic Allowance for Housing is paid at either a with Dependents rate or without Dependents. 1 dependent or 50, same rate. The difference might be $50-100. The BaH is tied to locality by zip code of where you are stationed. Travel dollars are different.

These are questions you should ask your recruiter. You sound like you have a qualified ASVAB score but possibly hesitant to commit to a contract. Your family will be taken care of while you are away at training and they will meet you at your first duty station after training where you have the option to stay on post or off if you choose.

The simple answer:

While in BCT (Basic Combat Training) you will receive BAH at your dependents zip code.

While in AIT (Advanced Individual Training) you will continue to receive BAH at your dependents zip code.

When you receive your PCS (Permanent Change of Station) orders to your PDS (Permanent Duty Station) your orders should state Dependents: Yes and your authorization to move them to your PDS. This is where your BAH will change to the PDS zip code or you get on-post housing.

You can research this more as LTC Mackay suggested using the DFAS BAH Calculator to find the with-dependent rate for your dependents zip code.

As SFC Rose stated this is something your Recruiter should be going over with you about "Once you sign your contract" and have a date to become active and head to BCT-AIT-PDS.
