SPC Private RallyPoint Member not enough information here to make a call on this. And what are in/out calls? I would suggest seeing a AD recruiter that way you would have the Infor from the experts.

Ok i was a recruiter and am now a Career Counselor the Reclassification in/out calls pertain to AD Soldier strengths. For those of you who dont remember or dont know it is a milper message that shows a bunch of Y’s and N’s on a page Y/N = understrength N/N = Balanced and N/Y= Overstrength. How it works example lets say I am an E4 SPC 11B and it shows N/N i would know that im balanced and can only look at MOSs that are understrength if I am in a over strength then i could look at balanced and under.....This messages drives which reenlistment opts you qualify for based off of Retention Policy message 19-02 (C2). So......does it matter coming back in the Army it may give you a good Idea what the Army is looking for but realistically a recruiter must follow a recruiting policy that governs prior service called the “prior service business rules”. This message states what MOSs the Army will except and what MOSs you can reclass and what exceptions there are if any. The Retention policy and recruiting policy messages are not released to the public you must go talk to a recruiter to find out more. It really depends on the old MOS and what you want to do now......If you want to reclass you may be limited to Special forces recruit Linguist or some other in demand field that you will usually require special tests and qualifications or languages.

I'm currently a recruiter and will tell you how the process will most likely work. If you have an MOS that is not over strength, you'll most likely keep your same MOS. It's cheaper and they do not have to send you back through training. However, you may get to choose from a few available jobs. It will not be up to you...the list will be made up of jobs that are low on numbers at the time. Essentially, you wont have a ton of options. The Army is doing you a solid by letting you back in. People that join for the first time will have way more options than you. Even if they have the same line scores.

Your best bet may be to get Active duty in your current MOS and take the shortest contract available regardless of bonus, then see your career counselor when you get settled in. You will have to have at least a year at that location and if over seas DEROS can really throw a wrench in the plan.....but you do not have to be in the reenlistment window (15 Months from ETS). Little know fact!
