I'm in need of a letter of recommendation from a Aviation CW3 from the GA National Guard. How can I find a CW3 willing to help? 2018-05-16T21:55:57-04:00 2LT Private RallyPoint Member 3634596 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Are there any Aviation CW3s on here from the GAARNG? Try to find a CW5 and if not then CW4 Response by WO1 Private RallyPoint Member made May 16 at 2018 10:35 PM 2018-05-16T22:35:50-04:00 2018-05-16T22:35:50-04:00 CW4 Private RallyPoint Member 3634778 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I would just go to the NG flight line and fine a WO and ask where a 4 or 5 sits or go directly to the State HQs and talk with the W5 there. Don’t he bashful. I&#39;d seen some threads on here about that...also, must it be Army, or would you consider other svcs as well ifmtou could get flight in one? I couldn&#39;t go pilot, my eyes, I tried USAF nav, the limit for some crazy reason was 20/100, Navy NFO was 20/200 weaker, for reasons I could never fathom, I did the !ed, I was passed, I never got to interservice...I&#39;m gonna offer some thoughts, OK? First elaborate on your bachelors, major, GPA, any grad school, !asters, major, GPA, ambitions, objectives...also, consider USAF UPT interservice, maybe USAF nav/WSO, same for naval aviator or NFO/WSao...USCH flight is supposed to be famtastic, a family friend was Army enlisted, went Army WOCS for helicopters, then finished his aviation bachelors at Embry Riddle Univ, then USCG picked him up on interservice, where he fisnied his 20 yes as an O-3 in helicopters, OK? Next, look at the NOAA Commissioned Corps, they&#39;re pure science, you&#39;d need a STEM bachelors, minimum, also, look at USMC flight, ams for all those look at fixed and rotary wing, OK? Next have you done FAA sport pilot? Private pilot? Instrument rating? Multimedia engine? Commercial? If there&#39;s a mil aero club near you, use it, I had one, I didn&#39;t more than a cpl of times, I kick myself perpetually, honest, OK? Send more, a detailed bio sketch, I&#39;ll try to suggest more, also, look up!AFIT in USAF and Naval Postgraduate Schl (NPS) for Navy, as Army commissioned, you&#39;re allowed to apply, NPS has an online PhD in comp sci (CS), I don&#39;t know the rules for itz I just know it exists, OK? USCG auxiliary has observer training you could ask to do as a volunteer, if you chain might allow it, though USCH Aux uses mbrmplames, not their own?..Civil Air Patrol (CAPl uses corporate aircraft, USCG Aux is an instrumentality of the USCG under Geneva Conventions, CAP isn&#39;t, I&#39;ve read, there are legal differences, instrumentality if more formal, though both get tasked with real missions...if you want to know Kore, ask, I&#39;d be most eager to chat further, OK? Hope that was of use, I&#39;d be !most eager to hear more, honest, I have an interest in such things, also, read up on controllability and observability in state variable control systems, as related to helicopter flight control, and look at the Ft Eustis or Ft Rucker flight test centers for helicopter flight test, if you can get assigned there, try, it&#39;d be a great bridge to being part of their world, even if only as a flight test engrg (FTE), an option many don&#39;t consider, of you&#39;ve got a STEM background, OK? They usually have a list of CW3 or higher that are willing to interview you over the phone and then write a LOR. The manpower need is ever-changing, particularly in the Guard. You may find that pursuing both COAs simultaneously increases your odds of ultimately wiggling sticks in one capacity or another. From there (and I’m proof of this), jumping between the rank structures is much less complicated (and much more common than one might imagine, particularly O to W).<br /><br />Best of luck! There should be a few W3s and 4s and maybe a 5 hanging around. If not, someone there could at least point you in a direction. Warrants like coffee, everyone likes free coffee. Rub some elbows and let them get to know you. Doesn&#39;t take long for at least one or two of them to be willing to write a letter. They know the deal. As long as you aren&#39;t brain dead thy will probably give you a shot.
