Second, you’re a mechanic headed to Ft. Hood which is a heavy mechanized unit. Expect to work on humvees, bradleys, strykers, mraps, matvs, Abrams tanks, hekmats, etc. Ft. Hood has every military vehicle you can think of. Have fun in “The Great Place.”Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 8 at 2018 7:12 AM2018-04-08T07:12:26-04:002018-04-08T07:12:26-04:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3523503<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sgt do you know how to edit a post? That is generally reserved for SSG and above ranks or certain MOSs like MP or CID that can only go to one type of unit. Instead you will go to a replacement company. That UIC you listed is probably for the replacement company. Last time I knew there was only one replacement company on Fort Hood that assigns to all units. I have been told that in the past there was one replacement company per division; one for 1 CD, one for 2 AD, 4 ID. That was long ago however. As a wheeled vehicle mechanic you can go to literally any type of unit, they all have some type of wheeled vehicle. I was a commo guy so I went to many different units. Air Defense once, Field Artillery four times, Helicopter Aviation twice, light infantry once, Signal Units three times and Corps Staff once. Fort Hood is pretty good duty and I liked it all three times I was stationed there. I am retired now and still live in Killeen outside post. Killeen is a hard place and nothing good happens there after 22:00 hrs. We average at least one shooting a week but often more. Generally they all happen between 22:00 and 07:00 hrs. If you hang out in bars late at night that could be you. Most are drug and or alcohol related but several are family squabbles. I hope to never see your name on the news reference to shootings. I hope you enjoy your time at Fort Hood.Response by SGM Joel Cook made Apr 8 at 2018 8:44 PM2018-04-08T20:44:29-04:002018-04-08T20:44:29-04:00MSG Jasin Jones3528056<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I agree with SSG Pefley, according to FMSWEB you are going to 1st CAV DIV Sustainment BDE (Replacement). I also agree with SSG Eashman you need to remove the UIC from your question. You should of got a sponsor who reached out and "welcomed" you. To edit you post there should be the word edit below your post above the facebook and twitter buttons. Best of luck in your new assignment.Response by MSG Jasin Jones made Apr 9 at 2018 3:21 PM2018-04-09T15:21:35-04:002018-04-09T15:21:35-04:00SSG Carlos Madden3530389<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>From the info provided it sounds like you're headed to this unit. You can add it to your profile and join that unit page. You can also reach out to the soldiers we have on RP from that unit and ask them specific questions.
