I would also recommend reserving lodging as early as possible, something I failed to do when I PCSd there, so I had to travel from Honolulu each day. I lived in Mililani Mauka about ten minutes from post, small but nice community. As far as the activities there is plenty to do on your downtime. Good luck on your assignmentResponse by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 31 at 2015 3:28 PM2015-10-31T15:28:09-04:002015-10-31T15:28:09-04:001SG David Lopez1080122<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Great duty station, great training area, great off duty activities. Someone said be a tourest for three years, exactly, enjoy all of the islands, they are so beautiful and calming. Plenty to do, outdoor activities, and party party party. Off post housing is very expensive, consider living on post when you get the chance. Hopefully you will have a good sponsor, as there are alot of Ghetto's in the more cheap rent areas. I recommend do not live in the Ghetto, you being military will be a target for burglary while you are at work or deployed / field training. Hope you like surfing, body boarding, scuba, and the many ocean water activities that Hawaii is famous for. One can go to the beach every day of the year. I loved it, but I do love the beach. Depending on where your home of records is, MAC flights are a great cost effective way to come home to visit family when you have vacation. Many of your family members will definately visit you while you are stationed in Hawaii. There are many military cottages etc on the beach that you can take advantage of, especially when your family visits you (cost savings) including the Paradise Cove Luau, which I highly recommend. The Big Island also has nice military cabins. Over all, it will be one of your highlight duty stations while being in the military. Good Luck and enjoy.Response by 1SG David Lopez made Nov 1 at 2015 1:25 AM2015-11-01T01:25:16-05:002015-11-01T01:25:16-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member1161936<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm currently in 3rd brigade 25id in a signal company.
