I'm currently in transition to Fort Benning from Schofield barracks. How many days of TLE am I entitled to?

I have more questions regarding the matter as well. Such as, do I report to housing before I report, in order to receive TLE and permissive TDY? Or do I report first, and request those after? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You are entitled to 10 days TLA/E. It can be used in either your old or new duty station. It is designed to cover your lodging for during the PCS move. You will need to utilize government lodging (or get a stamp of non-availability from lodging) before checking into an off post hotel. Cost will cover up to local per diem. PTDY is different. If your leave form from HI is signed by your LTC and marked as PTDY authorized then you will have your DA31 stamped by housing BEFORE your ten days of non chargeable leave begins. Talk to finance and housing about TLE unless you want to dig into the JFTR to find out (which I recommend). It's TLA when you start looking for a place to live. You will get that in 10 day increments through housing and finance at your gaining station. You can start to get that when your leave ends and you start your PTDY, but ensure you follow the instructions of the housing office at Benning.

Look around exit 7 area up 185. When I PCS'ed to Fort Benning there was a long waiting list for On-Post Housing. Anything between exits 1-6 are........You'll see I'll put it like that. We found a house to rent. Price wasn't bad and it wasn't on post, thank god. I reported to Soldier's plaza and was granted 10 days to find a house through Housing. After in-processing is all done at soldier's plaza I then reported to my unit on Kelly Hill.

Are you talking about TLA? When leaving Hawaii you are authorized 10 days of TLA, this is to offset the cost of living AFTER your household goods have been picked up (household goods should not be picked up sooner then 10 days prior to departure). I believe TLA is specific to OCONUS locations, and I do not think you'll receive it at Fort Benning. Your permissive TDY can be included in your PCS leave, if it is not you can report in and ask your receiving command to approve it. I would contact the housing office at Fort Benning to get the most current information.

TLA can be more then 10 days if housing has nothing available, which is most cases here. Just have to keep renewing the memo and brining to finance.
