There are plenty of different routes to track in this MOS. Make sure you are checking the in/out calls for this MOS with your career counselor. If you need more information on the MOS feel free to PM me. I finally managed to land 15T and I couldn’t be happier. In my opinion it’s the best job in the Army.

It’s really all in what you make of it and what you’re looking to do going forward. After active duty, there’s a lot of opportunity in the Guard and the civilian world for aircraft mechanics. I have been doing this job for 8 years, I have been flight for 7. I have also completed my A&P, so I can work on civilian aircraft when I get out. This is a license that would take 2 years to get if you weren’t aviation, I got mine in 10 days. If you want more information on specifics you can message me and I will break everything down. I love this job, you will too. Totally worth it in my opinion. Been in for 4 years, just picked up E-5. If you're somewhat mechanical minded the AIT is not difficult, also the reclass guys seem to have a good time there. There are tons of opportunities on the army and civilian side, and the work gives something of a sense of purpose as well once you're established somewhere. I spent a little over 1 year in a Delta maintenance company then was put into a flight company to be a crew chief and I’ve been flying for a year now. It’s been a blast, especially in the flight company. If your good with your hands AIT will be a breeze. Only downside is that it’s pretty long. 4 months minimum and any time after that depends on if you get held under/over. I just crossed 20 years in the MOS. Been a 15T since day one of my career. Like some of the others have said hours can be long at times, different variations in the job between flight and maintenance. Medevac, VIP(worst gig), assault, 160th, etc. Great knowledge set for civilian transition. Just do your time in Dco maintenance to learn the job and you’ll be set.
