They are treating it like a deployment now for you guys. So to get to Korea, you'd have to go to a unit stateside that was tapped to go.Response by LTC Paul Labrador made Jun 14 at 2016 6:52 PM2016-06-14T18:52:04-04:002016-06-14T18:52:04-04:00SPC Andrew Griffin1629432

Great Question! There is a good chance you can get some Bradley time and also be at an awesome post. Chances are if you don't like heavy they will boot you somewhere else. This is only because it's such a high demand post. A more important question is when do you go to the board?Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 14 at 2016 7:10 PM2016-06-14T19:10:57-04:002016-06-14T19:10:57-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1630223

Take a look at DA PAM 600-25. That should help you identify the major positions you need to hold and at what rank. Having knowledge on multiple weapons platforms is always a good idea in my book thoughResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 14 at 2016 11:03 PM2016-06-14T23:03:01-04:002016-06-14T23:03:01-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1676103

I'm in the same boat as you. Though I was told I need an Airborne or Air Assault assignment. My 3 years in USAREC is up in a few months. From others that I have spoken with, one year in Korea would not give you enough "time" heavy. I would look at Carson or Bliss. That way you will have enough time to gain the proficiency needed. Just my thoughts.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 29 at 2016 9:42 PM2016-06-29T21:42:32-04:002016-06-29T21:42:32-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1730047

Diversity is always good, but what really matters is our development model. Do not get wrapped up in the location or unit.

As an E5 these are your top priorities pretty much in order-
24 Months TO&E Team Leader Time
EIB
Ranger

Any other schools are good, but at your level not necessary really. You already knocked out your TDA assignment so you are good there. Like others have mentioned, Carson is a good place to go, they have an ABCT, IBCT, and SBCT. Our PDM spells it our pretty fully.

http://www.benning.army.mil/infantry/ocoi/content/pdf/PDMs%2011B.pdf?updateApril2015Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 19 at 2016 2:57 AM2016-07-19T02:57:57-04:002016-07-19T02:57:57-04:002016-06-14T18:49:21-04:00
