I’m a year out from my Reserve contract. When and can I try to go active again?

Good afternoon gentlemen. I was active duty for about 6 years and ets’d in 2016. I signed a reserve contract and it’s up in 2019. My question is, would I be able to go active again? If so, how would the process be for someone who’s nearing the end of their contract as opposed to a fresh private a few months into his 6 year contract?

Should I do a 368 or just wait? Thanks in advance

I would actually contact a recruiter to start the process of a DD-368. You do not have to be at the end of your reserve contract to start the process.

MSgt Borders nailed it. You can start the process now. You just need to see a recruiter and get your current unit to release you.

Some units will not release you until your contract is up. But best of luck!
