I'm a prior service U.S. Marine and I just switched to the Army. I skip bootcamp and go to 88M AIT. How does it all work?

Since you are prior service you don't have to stay in the same barracks as the Soldiers who came straight from basic training. You should be able to drive your POV around. You normally get more privileges as long as you don't do anything stupid to get them taken away. Make sure you don't hang out or mess with the MOS-I Soldiers while you are there.

Classes have probably changed a little since I went thru AIT, but do what's asked of you, and you should do great.

It's been many years ago. The course then offered training from many different wheeled vehicles and the proper inspections. Also the training to operate safely on many terrains that you many encounter. I wish you are very successful with the starting of a very successful life.

From what I've been told from soldiers there is only one test now and it's open book. You do get tested on vehicles also, driving test. TBH I think it's a waste of time now, I think you only get trained on 3 Vic's LHS, 915 (can't think of the other one) Marine Corps Mos training is better.

While I went to training out of basic, those few that went from either prior service or even from changing jobs were treated like cadre and didn't have to do a lot of extra stuff trainees did. They lived in dorms, had cars, had weekends off etc. while other trainees did not. Not sure if it is the same, but that's how it was back in 04.

Accountability formation in the AM and possibly the afternoon. Usually you and fellow prior enlisted soldiers kind of gaggle behind formations...but as others has stated you will be treated a little differently because they expect you to behave in a manner of knowing discipline...fratinization with the newly enlisted privates is a NO-GO.

Well the Marines are allot tougher than the army , I got out after 15 years I had a attitude problem I didn't like upper ranks yelling and spitting in my face they want respect then give me the same respect back I was a tank driver for the captain of our company and a big rig tanker driver I had a class-A with all endorsements lic:. So any advice don't go back in the service unless you truly love that life you get to travel at least .take care oh ra!!
