You will need to get in contact with the VA and inquire. Only they can provide you with a proper answer.

Did you sign up for survivor benefits- that can guarantee 50% of your retirement pay to her.

As part of your estate planning, you are doing the right thing by asking this question now. I recommend checking with the VA. They may be eligible for dependency indemnity compensation (DIC). They should be able to retain the same benefits as before (i.e. CHAMPVA, ID card, Chapter 35), but DIC payment rates are much lower than that of 100%. I went on base and visited the JAG office and had them take care of all my other legal paperwork such as living will, will, POA, etc...
