I worked with a Commo SGT from group and he was one of the most knowledgeable NCOs on communications of various types I’ve ever met. He took a lot of time explaining to me shortcuts, more effective means to get things working when everyone thinks they’re broken, and was never condescending even when i made mistakes, and he was there to help and make sure i learned from it. Being commo isn’t sexy, but without you, no one moves an inch, and there is no support to help you. Be happy for what you’ve done to get into the community and be an absolute badass with the mic. Don’t forget to teach the conventional Army what you know....you might need them one day.Response by SSG Warren Swan made Jul 12 at 2018 10:42 AM2018-07-12T10:42:47-04:002018-07-12T10:42:47-04:00CSM Private RallyPoint Member3787435<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Nothing by wrong with the Commo Sgt position. The selection is made based on needs an aptitude. Every one of those MOS’s is highly competitive. Be happy you made it through selection. Moving to the Q does not mean you’ve made it by any means. Concentrate on all that’s ahead and enjoy it.Response by CSM Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2018 1:06 PM2018-07-12T13:06:00-04:002018-07-12T13:06:00-04:00SGT Joseph Gunderson3787591<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Any 18 MOS is a badass in my book. Just do your best, and you'll be promoted. I'm sure this 18 series probably comes with a nice retention bonus as well- since you'll get all the comms training on very specialized equipment. They'll want to keep you after your training.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Aug 28 at 2018 11:07 AM2018-08-28T11:07:07-04:002018-08-28T11:07:07-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5351333<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Congrats SSG! Perhaps some lazy guy. Yes your ruck is going to be the heaviest or the next heaviest to the 18D. It an awesome MOS and it took me into the intel side of SF team or 18F. There was an 18F already on the team so my job was still 18E. Of course this is my opinion, however I had lots of time under the 18E ruck. It’s going to suck no 2 ways about it, but thats why you went to selection bc you knew it was going to suck. It’s going to provide you great skills for the outside world when you are too old to run and gun. This opens a whole new world of opportunities. I miss it!!! You are going down the road you were destined to go down! Give it your all, you will have a great time. Cross train to 18D after you get to your team and get some team time. Go to Halo then scuba. Get all of that knocked out. All the best to you!!Response by SFC Michial (Mike) Bergen made Jan 22 at 2020 9:40 PM2020-01-22T21:40:24-05:002020-01-22T21:40:24-05:002018-07-11T23:11:57-04:00
