I just dropped a warrant officer packet for MOS 880A and 881A. My MOS is 35f and current assignment is S2 NCOIC. What are my chances?

If selected what should i expect? There isn't much info on these MOSs online but the idea of being on a boat intrigues me.

Did you check the “requirements” posted on line??? There are a lot and require documentation.

SSG Private RallyPoint Member I wish I could help you, but I am a Navy Warrant Officer 3 and if the Army Warrant is anything like it is in the Navy, you will be king of the roost in your specialty. I greatly enjoyed being a Warrant. I don't know how much service you have, but I had to be an E-7 with several years in rank, and I had to have 14 years service under my belt. Good luck!

I met all the requirements what concerns me is that i did not include a senior warrant officer LOR as the checklist said it was not a requirement.

I thought you had to be in MOS 88K or 88L to go into 880A or 881A respectively.

I though you needed an 88 series enlisted feeder MOS for this?

Honestly, Vegas may not give you good odds here.

I just pulled this off of a National Guard recruiting site:

MINIMUM PREREQUISITES*
Be a Sergeant (E-5) or above
Hold MOS 88K or:
Have equivalent experience from other service components
Have equivalent experience from the civilian sector with U.S. Coast Guard credentials, and be currently serving in a service component
Have at least 3 years of documented marine experience in the Deck Department within the past 5 years (more years of documented marine experience may be considered in lieu of the 5-year recency requirement)
Score at the 12th-grade level, or above, on the mathematics portion of the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE)
Be certified in Career Management Field (CMF) 88 to grade per AR 56-9 if holding MOS 88K
Have a physical profile of not less than 222221, have distance visual acuity correctable to at least 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other eye, and have normal color vision based on no more than 4 errors in reading the pseudoisochromatic plates test
Have a written recommendation from a senior warrant officer in either MOS 880A or 881A. If unit-level commander is a warrant officer, this memorandum serves the requirement for a commander’s endorsement and warrant officer letter.
A Marine Certification Form must be completed with physical and included in packet.

So without being a naysayer, I don't think it is going to happen anytime soon without the feeder MOS experience.

It has been the best 20 years of my life serving as a Boaty. We are the most deployable though. Be ready to be gone ALOT. Not just to the middle east but to south America, Japan, Korea, and anywhere else there is water!!! Out of the 20 years I have over 10 years of sea time..that's under way somewhere away from my family half of my career. Wouldn't change a thing though. I have my coat guard license and the job opportunities on the outside are endless and pay VERY WELL.
