If you have dependents listed on your orders you are authorized to obtain living quarters (usually off post), for your dependents and receive BAH. In my case, I was not allowed to keep my barracks room after the initial two weeks because the barracks were at full capacity. Usually your orders dictate whether you are authorized a move with or without dependents, you just have to ensure that they are included on your orders before they are cut.
