It was my responsibility to support the orders of the commander and that's what I did. Today every one posts their opinions and complaints on social media. Just the way it is, Soldiers complain, but now it just seems more extreme because of social media.Response by SFC Roberto Garza Jr. made May 13 at 2016 9:54 AM2016-05-13T09:54:26-04:002016-05-13T09:54:26-04:00LTC John Griscom3385203<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Have one major conflict during Vietnam era. New commander came in and started making decisions without understanding the policies we were working under. I had four years service and almost finished with my second overseas tour. It was his first time out of the states with eighteen years service. Only worked for him three months and found out later, he had lied on my OER (back in the days when you didn't see them for a long time). <br />He had come from an academic environment and had limited concept as to how it worked in the "real" world.<br />There are always going to be differences of opinion in an organization; depends on what level a difference will arise. But there is only one person in charge.Response by LTC John Griscom made Feb 23 at 2018 9:23 PM2018-02-23T21:23:05-05:002018-02-23T21:23:05-05:00SGM Bill Frazer3387478<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>There have always been problems with Commanders since 1776. Folks disliked Von Stuben for his drill practices and demanding perfect training. Patton's 3rd Army used to say "Ole Blood and Guts- our blood, his guts." Right on down the line. Sometimes Commanders come across as martinets, glory hunters, ticket punchers even anal. Also inevitably strong subordinate leaders will clash with strong commanders. Some folks still believe in talking the talk w/o walking the walk so to speak- resulting in "Toxic " leadership. It's just now the media pick up everything negativeResponse by SGM Bill Frazer made Feb 24 at 2018 3:27 PM2018-02-24T15:27:33-05:002018-02-24T15:27:33-05:002016-05-12T18:21:53-04:00
