This starts with a Physician referral to IDES if a condition prevents you from performing your MOS duty and cannot be resolved within one year. During the MEB you may be referred to VA after discharge.

To ensure that the MEB Process goes quickly and smoothly, it is important that you are prepared for your MEB Process. While your physician and commander submit their evidence directly to the MEB, it is a good idea to be aware of their progress so that you can assist or encourage them as needed. Documentation is key! It is ultimately your responsibility to make sure that all the necessary evidence is properly submitted at the beginning of the MEB process. Without the proper documents, the entire MEB process will be delayed—a frustrating ordeal for everyone and you may trip separation. I was selected for qmp and was denied co tinted service. I have also been fighting with anmedical condition since March 2015. I have had 2 surgeries and 7 procedures since December and nobody has even mention medboard because I am on qmp. I am starting my fight on Monday. What else do you have to lose. What are they going to do kick me out haha SSG Private RallyPoint Member Tue, 07 Jun 2016 21:47:50 -0400 2016-06-07T21:47:50-04:00 Response by SSG Joseph Henderson made Jun 8 at 2016 1:11 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/i-have-been-denied-continued-active-duty-service-under-the-qmp-can-i-start-a-med?n=1607771&urlhash=1607771

Hate to see this happen. Make sure all your Medical documents are in order for the VA. Go for every little ache and pain. I had a good veteran service officer help with my claim. He looked at the summary sheet of my med records and told me everything I can clam. If by chance you think you have sleep apnea get tested before you get out.
