I have an interview scheduled for an AGR position later this month. Do you have any advice on what to expect?

Greetings everybody.

I have recently separated from Regular Army, and I decided to join the New York NG. I applied for an AGR position (thanks to the heads up from my PSG), and I now have an interview scheduled for later this month. Any advice on what to expect?

I'm aware of who to expect on the panel, I am also prepared for many MOS related questions. However, a warm and fuzzy on some of the other material they may cover with me would be greatly appreciated.

I'd wanted to go into the NY state defense force (SDF), the NY Guard (NYG), I just couldn't, as I'm total perm disabled, NYS insurance rules for NYG forbade it...I'd still wanna try going Civil Air Patrol (CAP) by us, we're on Long Island (LI), or maybe USCG Aux, as they have more operational stuff, incl clinical stuff, I'd been clinical doctoral allied health, we shut my license off so it wouldn't conflict with the total perm disability thing...I'd suggested to our dentist about the NYG, which he hadn't heard of, a dental friend of his is NY ARNG, he just wasn't sure if the life would be for him...he tried NYG at my suggestion, found he was suited, submitted for NY ARNG, got picked up, NYG released him...obv, his circumstances differed considerably from yours, certainly...I'd just figured maybe you might wanna look through the DMNA jobs page, being as if you want NY ARNG as you're saying you're trying for, you'd be under NYS DMNA, so I'd just figured maybe you might care to get familiar...lemme see if I can find other maybe relevant stuff you might find of use as well, if you'd care to chat at all, no rush, whenever you'd want, OK? Look through these also, if you'd wanna see if maybe any of the SUNY schools, which include all the community colleges, have anything for NY ARNG or ANG members...a good many states have such benefits, I'd just wondered if you'd want to go back to school at all, if so, whether you've done anything thus far, assocs, bach, grad level, what major(s) you'd tried and/or looked at as well, grades, GPAs, credits thus far, STEM vs non-STEM topics and/or coursework done thus far and/or interested in, I just have an interest in such career/educ stuff, if you can possibly elaborate more, I might be able to suggest other stuff for you, as could others on here, possibly, that's all I'm saying, OK?

This is Federally recognized, the NY Naval Militia (NYNM(, whereas the NYG isn't...if you'd wanna consider doing an intersvc at all, you can drill with the NYNM in NY as USMCR, USNR, or USCGR, I've known those who have...they have a program with SUNY, if it'd interest you at all, esp with SUNY Maritime College, ny the north end of the Throgs Neck Bridge, going from Queens into the Bronx, a true jewel of a school, honest, I've kicked myself more than once for not having applied in high school, plus, have known many who've gone there, and/or taught there, honest....

Here's the school...you do NOT have to go NROTC to go there, you can, however, if you'd just wanna go there as a regular student, you'd have to do the mil training, called regimental training, to go on the ship, however, you do NOT have to commit to NROTC...I "think" you "might" be able to try for one of the NYNM scholarships, "maybe", though, as I'd said, you'd likely have to go intersvc, apparently, from all I know about it thus far....
