His words and music certainly inspired many recognized authors and academia. I had to write a few papers on literature that was inspired by his work. Baby Blue was one...(shrugs)

Honestly, I don't know. I'm a fan of his music, but I didn't even know he had written any literary work until the announcement for the Nobel Prize came out. You would think a big time musician would have had a bit more publicity for that or maybe he did and I just happened to miss all of it. Though whatever he wrote, I'd hope it'd be pretty groundbreaking for such a prestigious award. I wouldn't want to think he got it based on celebrity status alone.
