On my DD214, I have 17 years 5 months and 25 days of Active Federal Service (AFS). I am currently in the Army Reserves as an IPU Soldier since 20150208. Does my Reserve time put me over the 18 year mark. If so, can I apply for sanctuary?

Reservists have to apply directly to HRC for Sanctuary, there is a page on Sanctuary on HRCResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2021 8:19 AM2021-07-14T08:19:24-04:002021-07-14T08:19:24-04:00SGM Private RallyPoint Member7107845

In the reserve components, it takes waiver approval at Director/Chief level for a reservist to come on orders with more than 17.5 years of AFS.
It's possible with a mobilization, otherwise there would need to be a mission critical need to bring you on orders, no one in the reserves gets orders solely for the purpose of getting to 20 yrs AFS.Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 14 at 2021 2:20 PM2021-07-14T14:20:37-04:002021-07-14T14:20:37-04:002021-07-13T21:11:45-04:00
