I have a TS/SCI but no IT or Intel skills what jobs should I be looking for and where?

I have some IT skills but no certs and absolutely zero analyst skills or experience. What should I be looking for and where? Are there contractors willing to train? Ive done contracts with forscom G8 and basic IT with my unit.

IT is all about skills. You could explore working on a help desk and use that as a launching pad into IT. Let your prospective employer know that's your game plan and you may find one that is willing to help

Clearance will open doors for you. Get a game plan to learn and develop those IT skills and progress up the ladder of experience.

I'm a bit jealous honestly, got skills but Army in it's wisdom have not granted clearance after 9 years and just learned fairly recently it's mainly because of paperwork issues, trying to square it away before I transition out

Not all branches of the Federal Government operate on the Security Clearance model that the DoD and intelligence branches use. Do you have a college degree, if so what type of degree and what was the major?

This begs the question, how would a any soldier without the skills you describe need a TS/SCI?
I am not "dissing" you, I just cannot see the need for that high of a clearance. The "need to know" just doesn't seem to rise to that high of a level.

There are some roles in the special operations community where you need a TS/SCI just to be in the room. Those are few and far between. You can learn to program software fairly quickly without much formal training. Stick to open source coding that isn't proprietary. You'll need to do research to know what I'm talking about, but it's worth it when you consider the value of your clearance and the time you spend learning a professional skill.

Why are you not looking for something in your current field. Go onto Linked In, look for recruiters in that environment and submit a resume. You should have received resume writing during your last year. If not you can find online assistance. Also, you can go to USA Jobs (Federal work) there are always financial positions opening. You can search globally or by region in the US. Don’t limit yourself to contracing. Your clearance will only get you so far. If you want to go into theatre your clearance will get you a decent wage, but not such nice places. You have options, explore. Thank you for your service.

Postal Inspector is possible if you can drop what your doing to jump around the country at a moment's notice.

Hovering over your name, it shows that you're a "financial management specialist." I have no idea what you do on a daily basis, but all "intel" centers need admin/managment types with TS/SCI clearances. For example, there is an opening for an Administrative Specialist at the National Maritime Intelligence Center. Another example is for a Work Order Specialist at Joint Activities Fort Bragg. Both of these are in USA Jobs. At clearancejobs.com, I did a quick search of "adminstration" with a TS/SCI clearance and there were 2,800 results. Think about what you want to do and where you want to live. With a TS/SCI cleararance, jobs are not limited to IT or Intel.

As long as you have your clearance you have solid GOLD! First get your Sec+ or CCNA. An A+ will get you in the door as it were but the industry standard that they look for as an IT for military contracts now is Sec + at a minimum. They'll hire you with a A+ ce BUT you'll be expected to get a Sec+ce within 90 days or be fired. I've been doing military contract work for the past 12 yrs so I'll be glad to help if you'd like.

Hey Joe -

Go to community college (get the VA to pay for it) and take programming. Excel in application development in Java & Java related skills.

Once you have a couple of years under your belt, the sky’s the limit as a contractor.
