I had a minor surgery. Is there a way to enlist without having to wait 6 months post surgery? Is this rule flexible?

Your Recruiter and MEPS have to work off of DoDI (Department of Defense Instructions) 6130.03, MEDICAL STANDARDS FOR MILITARY SERVICE. If what ever surgery you had done, and I don't need to know, is required to wait 6 months per the DoDI, then the 6 months you will have to wait. There is NO getting around that regulation. It is ironclad and resolute.

FYI DoD is going to GENESIS program. Everything will be visible, if you think you're good and try to cover anything up while trying to enlist in the future, it will come back up.If you try to enlist under falsely provided information and they catch it, it does have possible Federal legal ramifications. I'm not trying to scare you, things changed a lot last month. Wait the 6 months and go the right avenue. Not worth the repercussions, if they say they need a letter to clear you, get it from your PCM and whomever does the procedure.

James Austin - Looks like you got your answer. The military needs to make sure that you have had enough time to heal properly. If you come back too soon you could re-injure yourself. Be patient and give it time.
