It would depend on how far are you willing to drive. There are several battalions down in Western Kentucky for Drill Sgts in I believe the 95th. Not sure where you live. How is your PT, because to make drill sgt school you have to pass their PT test at their required scores.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 28 at 2016 9:43 AM2016-12-28T09:43:52-05:002016-12-28T09:43:52-05:00MSG Brad Sand2194714

I will warn you in advanced that switching from the IL NG is not just a matter of saying you are going to do it, you will have to get your release and approval. I would recommend that you talk to your local USAR Recruiter to help you with the issue.
I know there are Training Units in Illinois and the region...or at least were...often these units will require you to interview before transferring into these units.Response by MSG Brad Sand made Dec 28 at 2016 9:45 AM2016-12-28T09:45:17-05:002016-12-28T09:45:17-05:00SFC J Fullerton2195399

You can find USAR unit vacancies on this HRC link. You need to log on with a CAC or AKO. Obviously you need an approved conditional release from the IL ARNG. FYI- if you hold an 11 or 19 series MOS, there are AIT instructor positions in the USAR as well.
https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Reserve%20Tours%20and%20Vacancies
