SFC Private RallyPoint Member I recommend Zillow (http://www.zillow.com) for doing the "internet recon" portion of the search. Having a good realtor is critical for the "boots on the ground" piece of the search. Choosing the right lender (https://www.nasb.com/loan-officers/phillips-luke/)
is also a very important part of the home buying process.

base Housing Office usually has a List of recommended Realtors of approved Rentals...
If you Buy.. remember to retain your own Realtor who will work on your behalf... and work around the BS of the Sellers Realtor...

If you are a member of USAA or Pentagon Federal Credit Union (PFCU), you get money back by using one of their real estate agent referrals.
As a note, I found PFCU to have some of the best mortgage packages.

I would Contact several realtors In the are. Do you Have a Sponsor that is helping at FT
Benning? with your PCS move? IF Not There should be I was always having a Sponsor where ever I went. Or If You Know your Unit contact your 1SGT. G0od Luck.

I've never bought a house in the Columbus area, but I do know a lot of people who bought houses in Alabama side, it seemed to be a lot cheaper and there were a lot of nice big houses over there. I don't know any realtors or companies but always something to consider.

Waddell Realty, is the service we have used for many years.
Selfishly, I have a house that is available in Ft. Mitchell. We lived there for five years and then moved to SC. It is mostly military neighborhood, located in a cul de sac, and the house is about a 10 minute drive to the back gate.

Homesnap.com or realtor.com are good ones. Avoid Trulia and Zillow. The information is more often than not, old.

Always something close to the base. Get your preapproval letter before you go shopping. I would think you would want base housing for your kids.
