I am pct'ing to Germany, and I would like to know as a single E6 will I live on/off post, receive OHA, do I get cola?

Congratulations on Germany. That was my last duty station and I loved it there. Answering this is dependent on your unit/location, but where I was, all E-6 and below lived in the barracks. We had our own NCO barracks, but barracks nonetheless.

The only ones single and living off post I have seen were officers. More then likely you will be put in 'family' housing sharing with 2 or 3 other NCO's. It's kind of crazy seeing an young O1 living off post when your 'forced' to live on post. You will receive cola, that's for sure. But it's been 4 years since I have left and things could have changed since because of base closures.

Hi, speaking from experience. Your going to be in the barracks brother, but it does mostly depend on where you go. If your lucky, your station will have BAQ for E6 and E7's that are single. I was stationed on Coleman barracks in Wiesbaden, and after my divorce, I was moved into the barracks. At that local, E7 and above were awarded OHA and lived off post regardless of marital status. E6 and below, single, lived in the barracks. granted we got our own room, but even that is sometimes just not good enough. if you have any other questions, let me know. Germany was an amazing tour!

All depends where you are stationed. If the army have available barracks for the NCO's (E5-E7) to live, you best to believe the army will save that money and put you in the barracks.

In my experience, i think the off base housing is for families and married men. I spent 15 years as a dependent in Germany and have never seen a single soldier with off base housing. you can still check to see if you do. Many people have gotten married just for the benefits and American citizenship. Just remember opsec regulation regarding position and such while on the economy.

I came from Germany. E6 lives in the barracks if you are single.

SSGT You will be required to live in the Barracks and you will Get COLA unless it approved by Company Commander and BN Commander to you live off post OHA is Stillnot authorized if they Approved your request

Married: On Post Housing. Single: The B's. I'm in Ansbach at the moment as a DAC and all the Joe's are pretty pissed they can't live off post, to include officers!
