I am on Compassionate Reassignment and have orders. Will my new duty station allow me to travel to South Korea on labor weekend?

The day I turned in leave form to visit South Korea in Sep 6 to get married to my fiance is the day compassionate Reassignment is approved and report date is SEP 10. MIRACLE.
choosuk is a big holiday in korea where families announce important things and I must visit South Korea in that time to introduce myself to her Families to bring her into the states. She will be taking care of my sick mother for the next couple of months so It needs to be happened.
With early report, arriving to new duty station no later than Aug-4th. I have little over 3weeks in new duty station to get this oversea leave form approved.
since its a oversea-leave will my new unit allow me to go?
What should I do?

Your orders should say 60 days early report authorized so you can clear immediately. It's up to your new unit to grant leave. The sooner you get there, the sooner you can ask.

It is possible they could authorize and overseas leave, BUT you will need to do a bit of paperwork through your BN S2. I recommend telling your sponsor, which you should have, and seeing what paperwork you can complete before you arrive.

Personnel management is not an imprecise area nor is it based upon cultural traditions. You are assigned to a unit because your talents and capabilities are required by that unit to be operationally effective. Your compassionate reassignment is evidence of the DOD recognition that there are also humane circumstances that, if possible, are worthy of consideration. Whether you get your leave depends upon your new unit's circumstance and will most likely be acted upon favorably, however, if your absence has an adverse impact on the unit's ability to react to existing, or potential operational requirements, it could be denied. All commanders make every effort to accommodate individual requirements, but the longer you give the command to "cover" your absence, the greater the potential of your leve being approved. By your oath, the only thing you "must" do is "support and defend", so make every effort to coordinate your preference with unit requirements and allow your receiving unit the maximum time to adjust to the absence required by your individual desire. That means, at a minimum, take the initiative to contact your new unit and advise them of your desire.
