I am looking to become a part of the FAA. Is there anyone on the inside that would be willing to help me get my foot in the door?

I recently applied for Job Announcement FAA-AMH-15-ACV-38358 Aviation Safety Inspector - Air Carrier Avionics and Job Announcement # FAA-AMH-15-GAV-38357 Aviation Safety Inspector - General Aviation Avionics positions located in south Florida. LinkedIn shows that as of May 16, 2015 I would be in the top 10% of the current applicants for these positions. I am very interested in a position with the FAA. I am transitioning out of the United States Navy after 14 years of active duty service as an Aviation Electronics Technician and a Quality Control Inspector.

Would someone mind providing me with some feedback on ways I may increase my chances of moving forward. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Just checked the status of both of my Applications. USAJOBS shows both are Received... However, when i click the "More information" link the FAA application page shows a box that says
Referral List Status
• Referrals are based on submitted questionnaire at time of referral.

Can anyone tell me what this means? Have I been "referred"? Is so, why hasn't USAJOBS updated the status?
