Well being in western Nebraska Gosh is not something I here a lot except from kids. Who ever did the survey did not get around farmers, ranchers, and rail road workers. BS, WTF, and SOB are the norm. A female friend of mine uses, "she is like such a, See, yoU Next Tuesday. Her words not mine.

Being a Midwesterner who grew up in a community of heavy Norwegian descent I grew up hearing the word UFFDA from my grandpa and family many other family members.

Uff da (sometimes also spelled huffda, uff-da, uffda, uff-dah, oofda, ufda, ufdah, oofta, uf daa, or ufta) is an exclamation of Norwegian origin adopted by Scandinavian-Americans in the 19th century. It is an exclamation that is relatively common in the Upper Midwestern states of the United States.

It roughly translates to mean "OH S***" or "OH DARN"

I'm going to guess that the authors of this study flunked Scatology 101. These words are so bland and unimaginative that they hardly count as cussing.

I once knew an old Navy salt that could curse for an hour without ever repeating himself; his imaginative curses were a thing to behold. I knew some ranchers that were also quite accomplished, but none ever measured up to that Navy man's abilities on the subject.

Seriously? Gosh? That's considered a curse word? I find this hard to believe since we've got words such as the F-bomb and such. For a real good laugh, I would absolutely advise everybody watch George Carlin's piece on "the words you can never say on television." That's some comedy. RIP.

Well, they got them right for my part of KY. They missed my favorite word for when I disagree vehemently or don't like a decision someone has made and that word is BULLSH*T!
