Yes, the Army will help you get your spouse to Alaska, but only after your married. Your partner will need to take a physical immediately for an EFMP (exceptional family member program) screening. This is just to make sure that they can fully support your spouse medically! Make sure once you are married you turn in all your paperwork to finance and get them enrolled in DEERs. Make sure you do your research! If your on JBER, everything you need is in the welcome center. Use your resources and plan ahead that way when you are married, everything will go smoothly and you will have your spouse with you in no time!Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 11 at 2016 5:09 AM2016-07-11T05:09:40-04:002016-07-11T05:09:40-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1709206<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Im not sure where your home of record is, but I was in the same situation when I got married. You are authorized a one time HHG shipment from your home of record, I was stationed in AZ and my wife was in TX which was also my home of record. When I PCSd I coordinated with transportation to pick up HHG from my location in AZ and from here in TX and they moved everything to MO. Hopefully this helps.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2016 9:22 AM2016-07-12T09:22:50-04:002016-07-12T09:22:50-04:00CW4 Scott Hyde1709683<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Go see your S1.Response by CW4 Scott Hyde made Jul 12 at 2016 11:57 AM2016-07-12T11:57:51-04:002016-07-12T11:57:51-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member1709963<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sir, <br />All the answers below are great. Just make sure you get all you personal records straight. i.e. marital status, your wife on your SGLI, on your ORB, etc... and since Alaska is considered OCONUS the Command Sponsorship is the keyResponse by CW2 Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 12 at 2016 1:15 PM2016-07-12T13:15:08-04:002016-07-12T13:15:08-04:00SFC Lionel Bascombe1710212<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Lt, you can start by taking her to DEERS. Walk with your marriage certificate and other relative paper work. First of all make sure to get her enrolled into DEERS and get her an ID card. Most reserve and national guard posts have an ID card center. You have to go to DEERS on post and get her enrolled first before she can get an ID card. You will need your marriage certificate and military ID, her driver license, her passport(if she has a passport), her social security card, and her birth certificate. All these have to be the originals. DEERS/RAPIDS will not accept photo copies.Response by SGT Matthew Schenkenfelder made Jul 13 at 2016 9:53 PM2016-07-13T21:53:13-04:002016-07-13T21:53:13-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1718438<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>you will have to take your marriage certificate to your S-1 and enroll her as your wife and dependant.
