But if you are competing against someone already in the unit or someone's family member or personal bud you may not get it. Not always though, due to budget cuts these units do want to send people to training they know they will succeed. This has curtailed some of the nepotism that the guard is famous for having.<br /><br />If you want to apply for these slots you want to be as strong as a competitor as possible. You will want high grades, high AFOQT and PCSM scores. Also you may want to put some of your own money into getting some hours in a plane if you can afford it a full up pilots license. <br /><br />Also I would put in packets for as many units possible if you really are serious. If you really want a specific unit. you might consider enlisting first then competing internally for a pilot slot once you get your degree.
