I am currently looking to join the Nevada Air Guard and 152nd Airlift Wing and I am looking for a mentor as I aspire to become a pilot?

I am currently enrolled at TMCC and seeking a bachelor's degree in biology. I plan on joining the Air National Guard as the benefits are items that I simply cannot pass up. I truly need a mentor to help guide me through the process and take me o the correct path to becoming a pilot for future active duty roles. i will be attending college and the Air Guard for approximately 6 years.

First are they hiring for a UPT slot?
Next, guard units are very close knit communities, not saying you won't get in the door. But if you are competing against someone already in the unit or someone's family member or personal bud you may not get it. Not always though, due to budget cuts these units do want to send people to training they know they will succeed. This has curtailed some of the nepotism that the guard is famous for having.

If you want to apply for these slots you want to be as strong as a competitor as possible. You will want high grades, high AFOQT and PCSM scores. Also you may want to put some of your own money into getting some hours in a plane if you can afford it a full up pilots license.

Also I would put in packets for as many units possible if you really are serious. If you really want a specific unit. you might consider enlisting first then competing internally for a pilot slot once you get your degree.
