PVT Private RallyPoint Member 681005 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have heard everyone talk about getting over a 300 and how big of a deal it is but does it really do anything for me as a soldier in my army career or is just something nice to have on my record? I am currently in AIT and on my last PT test I scored a 314 and I am wondering what exactly that means for me? 2015-05-19T16:54:27-04:00 PVT Private RallyPoint Member 681005 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have heard everyone talk about getting over a 300 and how big of a deal it is but does it really do anything for me as a soldier in my army career or is just something nice to have on my record? Many are not able to achieve this for various personal reasons and may not be selected. From what I have read on here, apparently it helps you with promotions as well. Having a 300 APFT score will open a lot of doors for you in the Army. The question is, can you maintain it for your entire career? The bigger question is, how well do you know your job? But it means you can run, do push-ups, and sit-ups. Too much weight is put into the PT test. A lot of leadership these days seem to believe that scoring a 300+ makes you a better soldier than the soldier that scores a 270. This isn't the case a lot more often than people think. Combat fitness is way more important to me than being able to do basic calisthenics.
