I'm am currently AGR and have been in the reserves for 12 years. Came from active duty in 04. There are a lot of training opportunities in the reserves for schools and missions if you are green across the board and wiling to go. It is a different mind set in some units but in the end the Soldiers need good leadership and want to train, just gets hard when the culture of a unit is to sit back and collect the check. Not all reserve units are like this but it's those that are that give reserves a bad rep. If you have any other questions about the reserves let me knowResponse by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 17 at 2016 9:41 AM2016-06-17T09:41:52-04:002016-06-17T09:41:52-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member1639204<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I have been in the Army Reserve for 15 years. Been in 7 units. I have been on ADOS for three years been deployed once. I was a unit administrator for 7 years in two of the units. It has its up and downs depending on the units and its personnel but overall i love it. But you get out of it what you put into it. If you have any questions just hit me up.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 17 at 2016 10:15 AM2016-06-17T10:15:18-04:002016-06-17T10:15:18-04:00SGT(P) Jeremy Anderson1639633<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I did that for the same reason. I have been reserves for about 4 months now and I already have a schoolmate for ALC and then I'm putting in my promotion packet.Response by SGT(P) Jeremy Anderson made Jun 17 at 2016 12:14 PM2016-06-17T12:14:54-04:002016-06-17T12:14:54-04:00SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson)1647859<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Depends on what you are looking for. Reserve and Guard are both the same thing in essence..you just report for different time requirements. The big difference is reserves can make you move if needed where guard is state hence you don't get pcsd without your say...unless mobilized or active guard. <br /><br />The big difference active sees when they switch is the dynamics of the reserve or guard scenario. In civilian mode you could be the supervisor of your commander once you show up for formation in military mode and vice versa. The other? Prepare for a huge difference in speed of asignments. Remember active is 24/7....guard and reserves are weekend. You will be expected to do what you would normally take a week to accomplish in less than 48 hours.Response by SPC Dawn Appelberg (Johnson) made Jun 20 at 2016 4:50 PM2016-06-20T16:50:36-04:002016-06-20T16:50:36-04:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member1757185<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It depends on what type of unit you go to but I can assure you it won't be like the regular Army.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jul 28 at 2016 12:28 PM2016-07-28T12:28:36-04:002016-07-28T12:28:36-04:002016-06-17T09:21:22-04:00
