I am coming up on 500,000 points, so, should I be excited?

So, I have been on rally point for about a year (I think) and initially, when I was off for the summer, I was on here a bunch, then it tapered off... My competitive side causes me to pay to attention the scores and rankings... But, for most the year, I don't have a lot a free time... So, RP is generally relegated to brief moments when I have some free time... like when were flooded in... or today, when we are snowed in and today's activities were cancelled.

Nevertheless, I was on here when the first RP member hit 1,000,000 and then 2, and the second...

So, should I be excited? Or get back to my honey doos...

I try to not be cynical COL Charles Williams which is one of the reasons I voted Yes - you should be excited as you get close to and pass 500,000 points.
I generally enjoy your posts. I am glad to learn that you have been gainfully employed and hope that will continue for you.

COL Charles Williams - I would celebrate. Those points are a direct reflection of how much you've contributed to this community. Advice coming from your background and experience is invaluable for the average service member and veteran. How many times in a career would the average E-1 through E-4 get to have an open conversation with an O-6. Pretty valuable stuff when you look at the impact on others.

I know I speak for many of us here when I say thanks for being such an influential part of this network!

COL Charles Williams It's all about balance, but you don't need to hear that from me. I'm on here because I'm trying to help veterans with PTSD, TBI, MST, and that are severely disabled. In addition, I'm working on employment opportunities for veterans as well and trying to get the civilian supporter and recruiters to help sponsor the programs. I like sending out information about leadership and helping whoever I can. What is your purpose COL Williams and take that direction - You have always provide great insight and feedback as well. Would hate to see you go back to the Honey doos.....but you have to take care of that too! By the way I'm out of votes up (normal everyday thing), so I owe you one for the question!

When I came aboard six months ago, I was sort of taken aback by the points system. I didn't expect it and I still don't like how it operates. That said, I asked several of these "big-time" points people about this system, and a large number of them said they don't care about the points, or they never pay attention to their points. And, yet, they sure like to bathe in the limelight and appear to love all the accolades when they "hit" all these so-called milestones. Go figure.

COL Charles Williams, when I hit 500k, I didn't realize it for a while. After I realized it, I can't say I was excited, but I thought it was a milestone for me, to stay connected, and be so involved. So, congratulations.

The survey missed an option: "Whatever winds your clock." For myself, I'm in the "Whose Line is it Anyways" category as "the points don't matter" to me. So if you get more out of RP than you put in, it's a good investment. Everyone is somewhere on the bell curve with extremes on either end a red flag. Point hounds remind me of the SMs who have paper hanger wars with no CEU certificate too small not to PermaPlaque and put up on their living memorial. And the purpose is? So if 500 grand feels like an accomplishment to you, great. However I see a number of folk around here get positive meaning out of your posts. That's what impresses me. Making a difference hangs around longer than numbers in the cloud.

I can't get too excited about these "points" as they don't actually have any inherent meaning or impact on my life. Still, if you are into point scoring on RP, I don't honestly see anything "wrong" with that.
