Caffeine, nicotine, and supplements. Wean yourself off of them so you are "clean" before you ship to SERE. You don't want to be cold turkey for 3 weeks absolutely hating life in a school that already makes it very tough. Caffeine headaches, nicotine withdrawals etc no fun.

2) Pack on a few pounds before you go. This is not a course where you want to have 8 pack abs and 3% body fat. You will notice those Soldiers with "a lil extra" are much less affected by the hunger than those "shredded" soldiers. Their bodies have some extra to use for energy. I lost 11 pounds in about 4-5 days, you will find it is much easier when you have some to survive off than those who don't

3) Study land nav before you go. Seems simple. There are plenty of people who are clueless about land nav and you will get lost out there. You don't need to be amazing at it, just remember how to dead reckon, terrain associate, intersect/resect, plot points, and use declination.

4) Don't be James Bond in Casino Royale out there, do what the instructors teach you.I am attending SERE-C. What should I do to prepare?2019-10-15T11:28:34-04:00CW2 Private RallyPoint Member5129698

Another entry into Jeff's school preparation guide.

SERE is different from many other courses, and I will not be discussing any of the protected content.

1) Break your habits before you go! Who ever gave you this guide does not know what he is talking about. SERE-C is not like other SERE courses. There is nothing you can do to prepare; just go. SERE-C is a Navy/ Marine activity unless it is the course at Camp McCall. My squadron went through the Navy course and it was hell.Response by MSG Danny Mathers made Oct 15 at 2019 8:37 PM2019-10-15T20:37:06-04:002019-10-15T20:37:06-04:00MSG John Joseph5131583

Brother, it's an experiance. Nothing to prepare for. Have a mentality to be humbled. Not sure what C is but this is a good experiance. Great training overall and don’t regret it one bit.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Oct 24 at 2019 10:33 PM2019-10-24T22:33:35-04:002019-10-24T22:33:35-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member5209251

This was the greatest school ever.
