I am a Naval Officer and my son is in Army bootcamp. What uniform should I wear to graduation?

It will be hot, are summer whites acceptable? Don’t want to do anything that would reflect poorly on him. Are their regulations that govern this?

Wear the uniform appropriate to the expected weather and season. Kakhi's are the Navy's working class B's if I understand correctly and would be the equivalent of Army Class B uniform with short sleeve shirt and open collar. The Training NCO's and Soldiers should be in Class A but as a visitor you aren't held to that standard. Yes Summer Whites are acceptable if you so choose.

You have to abide by your Regs not ours- If it's white season, then wear them. We won't talk about embarrassment there Sir .LOL.

Wear your whites - he'll be in his As and ultimately, the picture on the mantle will be of the two of you -- look your best.

Good question. I've always tried to match the "uniform of the day" if at a "non-Navy" event. I don't know what the Army wears for graduation from Basic (Class A perhaps?)...but if it's equivalent to our "Service Dress", then obviously the matching Navy uniform would be SDW for summer. However, I think the guidance below suggesting Summer Whites isn't out of bounds. From my perspective-it's "easier" if you think about the event taking place in fall/winter. FDB wouldn't be "practical" if a guest...so I'd wear SDB, and from I recall, SW was always the seasonal equivalent. I think the only "no-go" would be CNTs (do we even have that one anymore?-impossible to keep up these days, LOL!).

Ma'am,
I would wear/follow whatever the Navy regulation go by for the weather and type of event. I really don't think you will or would offend anyone.

Your branch of service would be more that acceptable. It would be a good showing of how different branches can get along. I' m sure he would be very happy to show off his father or mother also.
