Also make sure she if familiar with what organizations are there that can give assistance (state VA officers, VSOs, etc).<br /><br />If you&#39;re referring to DIC and don&#39;t have a 100% rating, then it will only be paid if your passing is the result of a service-connected illness or injury. If you have a 100% VA rating, make sure you don&#39;t kick the bucket before you&#39;ve had it for 10 years (or 5 years from leaving active duty) and/or try to avoid kicking the bucket from non-service connected issues.<br /><br />I assume you can&#39;t control these factors though ... if you can, then there&#39;s another topic related to mental health you should check out.
