In the Marines we have a rule that we can wear one ribbon and call it a day, or the whole rack. I know people who did both. I would wear the whole rack though because I only had 9. some folks had like 9 rows. big mess so if they put one of the gimmie awards on and called it a day they were still good to go. Really hard to explain it though when you only have one ribbon and show 16 years of service stripes though, but like I said some folks do it. First award is the “blank” award, then one, two and three oak leaf cluster to denote 4 awards. This follows a “V” device, denoting the fifth award. The picture is correct. I had the same issue with mine (2 ARCOM’s and 1 ARCOM V). I used that logic to arrange my medals For my DA photo and it for me promoted to E8 in the secondary zone, so I’d say your good. And, either way, it’s still the correct way to wear them. As a former member of the 101st Airborne stateside, I also served with the 173rd Airborne first tour in Nam and the 82nd Airborne second tour. When I put on the patches of all the units I served with on my motorcycle vest I actually had an idiot question the possibility of my having served with all three units because he claimed my combat patches were on the wrong side. I told him I was never rear echelon so I never had a chance to look pretty and that he was welcome to tell me where the patches should be worn but warned him against insinuating that I might be lying. But if memories serves me correctly, I believe when you have 5 then you would wear one silver oak leaf. I might be wrong on that one. But for sure its the V Device then the 3oak leafs.
