How would I go about making the most out of a 35L?

Former Naval Officer here looking to go back for some more fun in the Military.... this time I'm looking at enlisting and branching intelligence (since I wouldn't be able to qualify for it on the officer side). My focus is primarily on 35L (Army Counterintelligence Agent). Any advice on how to get a jump start on making the most out of this new potential career?

you going active, reserve, or national guard?

I'm not a 35L, but we have 35L's in my Reserve unit. If you want to make the most out of it I'd recommend active duty as that is where 35L's can be assigned to investigative units.

If you stay enlisted for a bit then go green to gold/OCS you'll likely be branched for CI. If that's the case there are openings all across the country. This is only what I've managed to find online, but allegedly CI officers can be stationed in big cities like NYC.
