Gold crowns generally aren't provided in the front 6/12 teeth. I don't think this is going to be a problem - they gave me a gold crown on a molar... if they want it off they're gonna have to come get it! Response by SGM Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 29 at 2014 3:34 PM 2014-03-29T15:34:12-04:00 2014-03-29T15:34:12-04:00 1SG Steven Stankovich 88303

The Army gave me my gold crown on my molar. At the time, I was given the choice by my Army dentist to have either porcelain or gold. He told me that gold crowns statistically last longer and require less maintenance than the porcelain crowns. The Army put it on. I do not believe that falls into the category of "unauthorized dental ornamentation." Response by 1SG Steven Stankovich made Mar 29 at 2014 4:40 PM 2014-03-29T16:40:05-04:00 2014-03-29T16:40:05-04:00 SFC James Baber 88526

I am sure that since the military put it on they will be responsible for paying to have it removed since I believe that would fall under elective procedure which SMs cannot initiate without approval.

So if they inputted it in your mouth they will be the ones to provide the service to have it removed point blank, you can't enforce its removal by Soldier if they issued it in the first place without having a plan in mind on how to correct the issue under the new regulation.
Response by SFC James Baber made Mar 29 at 2014 9:02 PM 2014-03-29T21:02:13-04:00 2014-03-29T21:02:13-04:00 SFC Michael Hasbun 89087

A crown is not ornamental.
