We currently don’t have room in the barracks and they moved us into on post housing. I’m planning on getting married and was wondering how it will effect the already existing bah and my roommate. Any info on this will help. Has anyone else seen this before? I assume from the information you have given that you are already in on post Married Enlisted Housing. I would call and talk to Housing, but most likely one of you will be moved to different quarters, or if no additional housing on post is available, given non-available and then you are on the economy. With you getting married that will get bumped to BAH/w dependent. As for how it will affect your roomie? lol Pretty sure your wife is not going to want a 3rd person there with you and her. Either you and your wife will find a new place or the roomie will. I suspect it will be you and your wife. SSG Brian G. That's all that changes with BAH.

The living situation - that all depends on your wife and how comfortable she is with it honestly. She can't force your roommate to move out if they've been authorized to live in that housing - but if you get married and she doesn't want the third wheel you can see about moving into family housing or move off post. If that affects your roommate being allowed to stay - again that's up to housing. I've never encountered this situation so I don't know how it would work. Existing BAH? You’re getting BAH already even though you live in government quarters? That doesn’t make sense.

Once married you get BAH w/dependent rate based on where you’re stationed. You will move off post or move to on post family housing.

Your roommate will stay in the barracks unless he also gets married or gets an approved ETP. Each post has different policies regarding housing, so reach out to your housing office for specific installation guidance.
